Monarch Academy Public Charter School
February 17, 2012
Dear Potential Monarch Families:
The Monarch Academy extends this letter to you to explain why our lottery results have been postponed. Monarch Academy contracted with a third party vendor to hold an electronic lottery for the 2012-2013. The third party contractor has not been able to provide full results to us in a timely manner, thus causing the delay.
In order to move forward in a prompt manor, Monarch Academy will hold a general lottery on Thursday, February 23, 2012 at 6:30pm. This lottery will be open to the public, but attendance is not required. We will post the results of the completed lottery immediately thereafter.
We sincerely apologize for any inconvenience this circumstance has caused you and your family. Everyone at Monarch Academy is working diligently to resolve this issue swiftly and efficiently.
Sincerely,
Maurine Larkin
Principal

Monarch Academy Public Charter School 2012-2013 Application
Please complete one online application form for each child (kindergarten through Grade 8) you wish to enroll for the 2012-2013 school year.
When you submit your online application form, you will be asked to know your child’s 6 digit student number (the one used for lunch). You should contact your child’s school to assess this number if you do not know it. If you are new to AACPS you will be assigned a temporary number.
There will be an electronic lottery for students at grade levels where the number of applicants exceeds the number of spaces available. This lottery will be held in mid-January and results posted on our website. If your child is not admitted to Monarch Academy through the lottery, he or she will automatically be placed on a waiting list. If openings become available, students on the waiting list will be selected to fill those vacancies based on when their name was drawn in the lottery.
Kindergarten parents: A child must be 5 years old on or before September 1, 2012, in order to enroll in kindergarten.
DEADLINE FOR APPLICATION SUBMISSION: Noon on December 16, 2011.
Monarch Academy Public Charter School 2011 - 2012

Time changes for Bus Routes
ATTENTION:
Pickup/Drop-Off locations have been assigned with every attempt to provide accessible, safe and efficient transportation to our families. Additional sites will also be assigned when deemed necessary by the Monarch Academy PCS, in Accordance with AACPS Policy.
Pickup/Drop-Off Times are close estimates. Please be aware that we ask families to honor the 20 minute scheduling window (10 minutes before/10 minutes after the scheduled time) that school buses are afforded by AACPS Policy. This will reduce the chances of missing the bus, and the wait time of other families.
A Bus Driver may leave a stop before the scheduled time ONLY IF they have accounted for all riders from that stop. Families MUST BE PRESENT for their child to be released from the bus, unless other arrangements have been agreed to in advance. Please speak with your Bus Driver the first week of school to make those arrangements.
