Q1. How many positions will you be hiring for the school year 2012 - 2013?
We do anticipate hiring staff for the 2012-2013 school year - check back soon for details and open positions.
Q2. How do I apply to work at Monarch Academy if I am new to Anne Arundel County Public Schools?
All perspective candidates must apply through Anne Arundel County Public Schools. Please include a cover letter and resumé stating your interest in Monarch Academy. Send a duplicate copy to Maurine Larkin, Principal.
Q3. How do I apply to work at Monarch Academy if I already work for Anne Arundel County Public Schools?
All internal candidates must go to aacps.org and click on Human Resources and then to Internal Vacancies.
Q4. What is the timeline for the hiring process?
Positions will be advertised through March 1, 2011. Initial phone interviews will be held to learn more about our applicants. In-person interviews will be held in March and April 2011. A second round of “group” interviews will held in April.
Q5. What should I bring to the interview?
Please bring a portfolio, CD of lesson with you teaching, and three letters of recommendations along with phone numbers/e-mail addresses for verification.
Q6. When will final decisions be made for hiring?
We hope to make decisions for our staffing by early May 2011.
Q7. What should I do to prepare for my interview?
Carefully study the following:
- Expeditionary Learning Schools model (particularly the 10 design principles, core practices and benchmarks)
- TranZed’s Design Principles and TranZed (DOC)
- The Upside Down Organization (TranZed)
- Think:kids and Lost at School (collaborative problem solving)
