Overview of Admissions Process
Monarch Academy Public Charter School is a tuition-free public charter school serving children in kindergarten through eighth grade in Anne Arundel County. Monarch Academy is publicly funded and open to all students. Admission testing or screening is not required for admission to Monarch Academy.
To enroll in Monarch Academy Public Charter School, parents must fill out an enrollment application to Monarch Academy, which is available online.
Space is limited. Once a student is enrolled in Monarch Academy, he/she does not need to apply again for subsequent years at the school.
Kindergarten Admissions
To enroll children entering kindergarten, you must have the following:
- Documentation that the caregiver has legal custody of the child
- Original birth certificate
- Two proofs of residence:
Mandatory: apartment lease, mortgage statement or deed
Optional: utility bill, current bank statement, property tax, W-2 form, social security check, current pay voucher or domestic relations check
- Completed immunization record
Kindergarten students registering for 2011-2012 school year must be 5 years old by September 1, 2011. There will also be a kindergarten registration day to be held at Monarch Academy in conjunction with the Anne Arundel Public School System. First–Eighth Grade Admissions
If your child is entering first through eighth grade, you will need:
- Documentation that the caregiver has legal custody of the child
- Proof of residency in Anne Arundel County
- Original birth certificate
- Completed immunization record
- Maryland transfer form, which can be obtained from your child’s present school
